Kozhikode: A probe is expected to be conducted into an incident in which a vehicle driven by the son of a prominent CPM leader blocked Governor P.S Sreedharan Pillai's motorcade here.

Kozhikode CPM District Secretary P Mohanan's son blocked the governor’s convoy in his car and caused a traffic jam.

The Raj Bhavan views the incident as a serious security breach. The Kasaba police later took Julius Nikitas and his car into custody but released him after he paid the fine. It was alleged that the police refused to take further action against Julius due to his political backdrop.

The incident took place around 8:30 PM on Sunday at Mavoor Road. The special branch filed a report with city police commissioner Rajpal Meena, indicating a security breach. The incident was kept under wraps by the police to avoid controversy.

The governor has Z-category security and is escorted by an inspector-rank police officer, an advance pilot and another escort vehicle. Apart from this, ambulance and fire brigade personnel will also be present.

The governor was on the way back to his residence after attending an event. Meanwhile, city police commissioner Rajpal Meena told ‘Mathrubhumi’ news that he was not aware of such a security breach.
