Koduvally: CPM has dissolved its Chundppuram branch office in Koduvally municipality. The action has been taken in the aftermath of Local Self Government polls, where the LDF candidate and INL leader, OP Rashid did not manage to get even a single vote.

LDF had withdrawn its support to Karat Faisal after his candidature was announced at the LDF convention by PTA Rahim MLA. Following this, INL leader and Koduvally Service Cooperative Bank president, OP Rashid was made the LDF candidate.

Karat Faisal, who contested from ward number 15 of Koduvally municipality managed to win with a majority of 73 votes. The UDF candidate received 495 votes from the constituency. It is alleged that the LDF supporters were secretly instructed to vote for Karat Faisal.

Congress and BJP had alleged that OP Rashid was merely a dummy candidate and that Karat Faisal enjoyed the support of LDF activists. The final result proved these allegations to be true.

CPM district secretary Mohanan master had stated that action will be taken against this. As a result, the district secretariat was convened on Thursday and reported their decision to the district committee on Friday. It was evaluated that the fact that none of the office bearers voted for the LDF candidate challenges the organisational decision of the party.
