CPM demotes Payyanur MLA TI Madhusoodanan; several area committee leaders also face action

Kannur: CPM on Friday decided to demote MLA from Payyanur, T I Madhusoodanan, to the district committee from the district secretariat of the party. He was accused of misappropriating crowd-funded money.
Meanwhile, area secretary V Kunhikrishnan, the complainant, also faced action for triggering factional activities over the matter. He was removed from the post. Former MLA TV Rajesh will take over the post temporarily.
Besides, two area committee members were also demoted and three members will be publicly censured.
The matter had become a headache for the party in the district. They had set up an internal enquiry committee to look into the allegation.
The leaders were accused of misappropriating election funds, the chitty for building the area committee office and the fund collected for helping the family of martyr Dhanaraj. The accusation related to Dhanaraj fund put the party in defence.
The money was found to be shifted to personal accounts of the leaders. Fake receipts were used for collecting election funds. One lot of the chitty for the party office building was also misused.
