Lockdown enforced in 566 wards with WIPR above 8 in Kerala

Thiruvananthapuram: As the revised guidelines for Covid restrictions came into force in Kerala, the government implemented lockdown in 566 wards of 85 local bodies in the state. Lockdown is enforced in the wards with the Weekly Infection Population Ratio (WIPR) above 8. However, there are no places with lockdown in Idukki district.

Malappuram has most number of wards facing Covid curbs. A total of 171 wards under 16 local bodies in Malappuram are subjected to Covid restrictions. Palakkad has the second highest number of wards with Covid curbs. Lockdown is implemented in 102 wards of 11 local bodies in the district.

The number of wards with lockdown in other districts are as follows: Thrissur – 85, Ernakulam – 51, Wayanad – 47, Kozhikode -21, Kasaragod – 24, Kottayam – 26, Alappuzha – 11, Kollam and Kannur – 7, Thiruvananthapuram and Pathanamthitta – 6.
