Kozhikode beach hospital to be COVID-19 hospital: Collector

Kozhikode: The Kozhikode Government General Hospital, popularly known as the Beach Hospital, will be turned into a complete coronavirus hospital, said district collector S. Sambasiva Rao.

The move comes in the wake of the number of COVID-19 cases increasing in the district. Steps are being taken in this regard, he added.

People showing symptoms of COVID-19 will be admitted only to the Kozhikode Medical College. COVID-19 positive cases that are not critical will be shifted to the Beach Hospital. The others will continue to be treated at Medical College, the collector pointed out.

The primary contacts of all fresh COVID-19 cases have been identified. All are under observation and are safe, the collector said.

The Civil Supplies Corporation has opened three control rooms to ensure supply of essential materials to the public. Availability of essential items will be ensured, S. Sambasiva Rao added.
