Couple found guilty in POCSO case; wife sentenced to 75 years in jail

Nadapuram: A fast-track special court in Nadapuram found a couple guilty of sexually harassing a minor girl.

Palakkad native Vasantha alias Sandhya (42) and her husband Das (42), hailing from Kottayam, were found guilty in the POCSO case registered by Kuttiady Police. 

The court pronounced Sandhya, the first accused, to 75 years of jail term and a fine of Rs 90,000. Meanwhile, Das, the second accused, received 6-month imprisonment. 

The case pertains to the couple sexually assaulting a minor girl while she was in class five and later at a rented house in Vanimel. It was also found that the couple encouraged others to sexually harass the girl. 

Adv Manoj Aroor appeared for the prosecution. Inspector TP Harshad submitted the chargesheet in the case.
