33 people from Ettumanoor market test COVID-19 positive

Kottayam: The COVID-19 antigen test result of 33 people from Ettumanoor market came out positive here on Monday.

The market was identified as a high-risk area of coronavirus. Earlier, 5 people from a fish market in the area had tested COVID positive during antigen tests.

On Monday, 50 people from a vegetable market on Peroor road underwent the antigen test. Out of them, the results of 33 came out positive. According to reports, more people from the market underwent antigen tests on Monday. Health department officials informed that more people will be subjected to the test in the coming days.

Coronavirus is spreading rapidly through markets in the district. Markets in Changanassery and Vaikkom had reported a similar situation to that of Ettumanoor.

Though there were concerns regarding the COVID-19 situation in Ettumanoor. The initial test results were negative.  But now, the contact list is likely to expand.

On Monday, the Vyapari Vyavasayi Ekopana Samithi decided to open shops in Ettumanoor from next week. But with 33 testing positive for the virus, the shops will remain shut for some more days.

At the same time, there are complaints that the people are not cooperating with the COVID tests. On Monday, the health workers reached the market without information and carried out the antigen tests.
