College girl comes forward to prepare food packs for needy

Thrissur: A college student has blazed a trial by bravely taking up the responsibility to make food packs for 30 people every day. When a women’s group set up a box for providing free food for the needy in Mannuthy here, Louna, a college girl, came forward to help.

Hailing from Pattikkad, Louna is a first year PG Textile and Fashion Designing student at Vimala College in Thrissur. She will deliver 30 packs of food every day without break. The mission starts from Wednesday.

‘Together We Can’, a group of 50 women, initiated the free food scheme to provide lunch for those who struggle to get food every day. The first food box was set up in Mannuthy.

Every food pack contains rice, curry, pickle and a side dish. Also a non-vegetarian item will be included on special occasions.

The organisation entrusts a person to make food for the scheme at every place where the box is set up. They will pay Rs 30 per one pack to Louna for preparing the food.
