TVM collector summons govt doctor home to treat nail issue; KGMOA calls it abuse of power

Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala Government Medical Officers Association (KGMOA) has lodged a complaint against Thiruvananthapuram district collector Geromic George. According to the complaint, the collector summoned a doctor from Thiruvananthapuram General Hospital to his residence for personal reasons.
The collector called upon the doctor to address an ingrown nail. Additionally, it is reported that the doctor had to wait at the collector’s residence for an hour. He was summoned during his duty hours for the collector’s personal treatment.
KGMOA denounced the act of requisitioning a doctor for personal matters while they are on duty in a bustling Outpatient Department (OP) as highly objectionable and an abuse of power. The organisation asserted that the collector's actions caused inconvenience to the public, urging authorities to take measures to prevent such occurrences in the future. The KGMOA district committee stated in a release that failure to treat doctors of the health department with respect would prompt a strong protest.
