Collector and PP Divya abstain from Chief Minister’s function in Pinarayi

Kannur: As the controversy surrounding the death of ADM Naveen Babu continues to escalate in public discussions, Kannur District Collector Arun K. Vijayan abstained from a function related to the inauguration of a school building at Pinarayi. Notably, the school building is set to be inaugurated by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.
Former District Panchayat President PP Divya also did not participate in the function, reportedly going into hiding to avoid a possible arrest in connection with Naveen Babu's suicide, for which the police have filed an abetment of suicide charge against her. Both PP Divya and Arun K. Vijayan were originally listed among the dignitaries for the event.
Meanwhile, Congress and other opposition parties continue to criticize the police for their lackadaisical approach in this case, particularly regarding the delay in interrogating PP Divya. They allege that despite three days having passed since the abetment of suicide charge was filed against her, the police have yet to take her into custody. There are further claims that the police are delaying proceedings to provide an easy way out for Divya.
In another development related to the issue, Collector Arun K. Vijayan met with Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan at his residence on Saturday night. Reports indicate that the meeting lasted approximately 20 minutes.
