CMRL–Exalogic case comes alive again as ED files fresh petition in High Court citing SFIO report

Thiruvananthapuram: In a renewed effort to expedite proceedings in the CMRL–Exalogic case, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has filed a fresh petition in the High Court, seeking removal of obstacles to the investigation, citing the report by the Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO).
The proceedings in the case had come to a standstill after CMRL challenged the findings of the SFIO report in the High Court. It is in this context that the ED has submitted a supplementary petition.
In its submission, the ED stated that the SFIO’s investigation report is now available and contains offences that fall within the ED’s jurisdiction. Accordingly, the ED has requested the court to lift the impediments to the investigation and allow the probe into the CMRL–Exalogic deal to move forward. The ED has also sought the dismissal of CMRL’s petition.
The ED’s efforts to advance the investigation were earlier hindered by CMRL’s legal challenge in the High Court. The case is now regaining momentum following the release of the SFIO report.
This development comes at a time when the ED’s credibility is under scrutiny, particularly in relation to the Vigilance case.
