Nedumbassery: Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL) is undertaking a Rs 35 crore initiative to establish low-cost accommodation for passengers arriving at Kochi International Airport. This project aims to provide a transit accommodation lobby comprising 52 rooms, serving as a gift to air travellers during CIAL's Silver Jubilee year.

The project's outline and other details have been finalised, and it is expected to be completed within one year. On May 25, 2024, CIAL will mark 25 years of operations, and the transit accommodation lobby will be inaugurated as part of the Silver Jubilee celebrations.

The arrivals section of the old domestic terminal will be transformed into the transit accommodation lobby, covering an area of 47,152 square feet. The facility will include a business centre, hotel, central space, restaurant, and retail shops, among other amenities. Moreover, the transit accommodation lobby will be conveniently located within walking distance of the domestic, international, and business jet terminals.

Hourly Rental Basis

The accommodation will be available on an hourly basis, providing significant relief to passengers. This will be particularly beneficial for those arriving from international destinations who have to wait for extended periods at the airport before continuing their domestic travel. Such passengers can now book a room in the lobby to rest and rejuvenate. Additionally, it will facilitate the convenience of early morning flights for travellers coming from distant locations, allowing them to arrive ahead of time and relax.
