Centre moves ahead with biometric verification of LPG cylinder users; official announcement soon

Kozhikode (Kerala): Following recent reports on the government plan to implement biometric verification for LPG cylinder users, centres are now being set up to verify the number of beneficiaries using LPG cylinders.
Although an official start date for the verification processes has not been announced, gas agencies have already begun preparations. A senior official from Indian Oil Corporation told Mathrubhumi that while the initial phases of the process will not be overly strict, all consumers will eventually undergo verification in the coming months.
The final deadline for verification remains unspecified, but the campaign is drawing many customers to agencies via social media. To facilitate Biometric Verification, special arrangements have been made at all gas agency offices. Additionally, cylinder distributors are trained to conduct verifications at homes, including for those ailing and senior citizens.
The Union Ministry of Petroleum is gearing up to tighten biometric verification to find the real beneficiaries of LPG cylinders. This decision stems from reports indicating that many individuals have transferred connections and continued receiving cylinders even after the original holders' death.
Customers who fail to undergo verification may encounter obstacles when booking cooking gas. Indian Oil, Hindustan Petroleum, and Bharat Petroleum have collectively begun implementing these measures.
