Mathrubhumi International Festival of Letters (MBIFL’25) begins on Thursday

Thiruvananthapuram: The Mathrubhumi International Festival of Letters (MBIFL’25), the largest literary festival in South India where letters, hopes, dialogues and conversations meet, will commence on Wednesday at Kanakakkunnu. The inauguration will be on Thursday, marking the beginning of discussions and conversations that will continue for four days.

Minister P.A. Mohammed Riyas will hoist the festival flag on Wednesday at 6 PM. Following this, a jugalbandi performance will take place as a tribute to late legendary tablist Zakir Hussain. 

Various art forms, including dance, will be showcased in the courtyard of Kanakakkunnu. The celebrations will officially begin at the ‘Ka- Corner’ of the festival with vibrant festivities.

Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar will inaugurate the festival on Thursday at 10 AM. Writer T. Padmanabhan will be the chief guest, and Polish poet Urszula Honek will deliver the inaugural address.

Prominent speakers on Day 1 (Thursday - Feb 6) 

On the first day, Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin, Ukrainian writer Andrey Kurkov, Justice D.Y. Chandrachud, Ruben Banerjee, Turkish writer Filiz Gunduz  , Manu S. Pillai,  Armand Gosu of Ivory Coast, and Somalian writer Ubah Ali will speak during various sessions at different venues.
