'I remember getting shot...': Brother-in-law of Kerala man killed at Jordan-Israel border

Kozhikode, Kerala: Edison Charles, the brother-in-law of Gabriel Perera, who was shot dead while allegedly attempting to cross the Jordan-Israel border, has revealed that he too was shot during the incident.
"I remember getting shot while trying to help Gabriel get up by holding his hand. It happened on the beach, and the next thing I recall is waking up in a camp in Jordan," Edison said.
Gabriel Perera, a resident of Rajiv Gandhi Nagar, Thumba, Thiruvananthapuram, was shot dead by Jordanian soldiers on February 10 while attempting to cross into Israel illegally. Edison, after receiving medical attention, was repatriated to Kerala on Tuesday.
Gabriel and Edison had arrived in Jordan on a visiting visa, along with two others. Reports suggest that the group attempted to enter Israel from Jordan but were confronted by Jordanian soldiers.
As they fled and sought cover behind rocks, Gabriel was shot in the head and died on the spot, while Edison sustained a bullet wound to his leg. Gabriel’s family was informed of his death through an email from the Indian embassy.
