Bomb attack on BJP leader’s house in Kannur; CPM blamed

Kannur: A bomb attack was carried out at a BJP leader’s house in Kannapuram, Kannur. The target was the residence of Biju Narayanan, BJP Kaliassery constituency general secretary. The BJP alleged that CPM was behind the incident.

The attack took place around 2:30 am on Thursday. Hearing the loud explosion, family members woke up and saw the attackers fleeing the spot. The house sustained considerable damage in the blast.

The windowpanes at the front of the house were completely shattered. A pillar of the house was also damaged. The impact of the explosion scattered tiles across the area. Remnants of the bomb were recovered from the premises.

Kannapuram police arrived at the spot upon receiving information and began investigation. Police are currently focusing on CCTV footage from the area to track down the attackers.

Meanwhile, the BJP has come forward with strong allegations that the CPM was behind the attack. Kannapuram is an area with a history of BJP-CPM clashes. The BJP alleged that attempts are being made to reignite tensions in a region that had remained peaceful for some time. Police are conducting a detailed probe into the matter.
