Body of Kerala nurse killed in Ahmedabad plane crash brought home; funeral in Pathanamthitta

Thiruvananthapuram: The mortal remains of Ranjitha Gopakumaran Nair, the Malayali nurse who lost her life in the Ahmedabad plane crash, arrived at the Thiruvananthapuram airport on Tuesday morning. Minister V. Sivankutty led the team that received the body.
Several political leaders, including Minister G. R. Anil, CPM General Secretary M. A. Baby, CPM State Secretary M. V. Govindan, Congress leader Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan, and BJP leader S. Suresh, were present at the airport to pay their respects.
After arrival, the body was taken by road to her native place in Pathanamthitta. Ranjitha’s brother Ratheesh and a relative, Unnikrishnan, accompanied the body on its journey home.
A public homage for Ranjitha Gopakumaran Nair will be held at Sree Vivekananda High School in Pullad, where she completed her schooling, followed by the funeral at her residence at 4 p.m.
The identification of Ranjitha’s body was confirmed through DNA testing. The initial test failed to establish identity, but confirmation was achieved in a subsequent test using a sample provided by her mother.
