Pathanamthitta: BJP State President Rajeev Chandrasekhar stated that the central government is prepared to protect Sabarimala and its devotees. Speaking to the media in Pathanamthitta, he urged the Kerala state government to take responsibility, adding that if it cannot ensure safety, the Chief Minister should make it known so the matter can be escalated to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Chandrasekhar accused the Kerala government of being complicit in the recent Sabarimala gold robbery. “The political leadership is behind the Sabarimala gold robbery. Nothing happens without the knowledge of the Pinarayi Vijayan government. Ministers in Kerala are also involved. A political conspiracy has taken place. Any commonman can understand that a serious lapse has occurred,” he said.

He called for a central investigation into the incident and demanded a review of audit and vigilance reports of the last 30 years. “The state government only desires to loot. The government should not try to shield anyone. If someone enters a house and takes gold, there is no need to argue whether it is a lapse or a theft. Their approach is that if the CPM does it, it’s a lapse, and if others do it, it’s a theft. This will not be tolerated anymore,” Chandrasekhar added.

He also referred to constitutional provisions while questioning the state’s handling of the shrine’s affairs. “Article 25 of the Constitution clearly states that the Devaswom Board and religion are concurrent subjects. So far, in this federal democracy, the state government has taken responsibility in this matter. We have all been seeing what is happening in Sabarimala. What is the state government doing for Hindu ‘vishwasis’?” he asked.

Reiterating his point, Chandrasekhar said the Chief Minister must clarify whether the state can ensure the protection of Sabarimala. “If the state government cannot do it, they should say so clearly. We will tell Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and the central government will step in to protect Sabarimala,” he said.
