BJP Kerala chief Rajeev Chandrasekhar confirms election fund fraud

Thiruvananthapuram: BJP state president Rajeev Chandrasekhar has officially confirmed complaints regarding fund misappropriation within the party. Speaking at a meeting of BJP office-bearers, he clarified that he had received numerous complaints concerning internal fund irregularities. The fund fraud controversy emerged as the central topic of discussion during a meeting of state general secretaries and vice-presidents.

At the meeting, K S Radhakrishnan, Sobha Surendran and Dr Abdul Salam raised the issue and demanded clarity on the leadership's stance. Rajeev Chandrasekhar informed the meeting that the complaints he received had been handed over to a disciplinary committee comprising Kummanam Rajasekharan and treasurer E Krishnadas.

Show-cause notices have already been issued to some accused individuals based on these complaints. He explained that more notices would be issued in the coming days, and further action would be taken based on the disciplinary committee's findings.

Meanwhile, BJP vice president K Soman, who featured in audio clips released in connection with the fund fraud, expressed his dissatisfaction during the meeting. He complained that the party did not stand up to defend him in this matter the way it had when the Kodakara hawala money case became controversial. However, the state president did not offer a response to his grievances.

With allegations raised by a former office secretary regarding financial irregularities in Thrissur putting the party on the defensive, Rajeev Chandrasekhar took a stance that a defamation suit should be filed against the claims. He expressed that the former office secretary's revelations had subjected him to immense pressure.
