MV Jayarajan admits increase in BJP vote share in Left strongholds of Kannur

Kannur: LDF candidate and CPM district secretary M V Jayarajan openly admitted an increase in votes of the BJP in the Left strongholds of Kannur. Calling it a ‘phenomenon’, he said if there was any inflow of CPM's vote to the BJP, then it will be inspected.
“In 1977, the Congress had won from the Left bastion of Kannur. Although the BJP did not win this time, their vote share has increased in some Left strongholds.
Generally, it is seen that the Congress votes had gone to the BJP as it did not receive the number of votes it got in 2019. Similarly, the LDF also did not receive its vote share. The BJP, on the other hand, has gained more votes. This should be looked into in detail,” Jayarajan said.
"On a preliminary examination, the verdict is in favour of the UDF. The factors that contributed to it can be determined only after a detailed examination. Steps will be taken to make corrections and to identify the notion of people about the party, the front, and the government so as to resolve the issues,” he added.
The increase in the BJP vote share in the State, including in the Chief Minister’s constituency, has lately become a topic of discussion.
