Dr Vishwas Mehta to be next Chief Secretary of Kerala

Thiruvananthapuram: Dr Vishwas Mehta will be the next Chief Secretary of Kerala. The decision was taken by the cabinet in the meeting that was held on Wednesday. Vishwas Mehta will be replacing Tom Jose, who will be retiring soon.
Vishwas Mehtha is currently the Additional Secretary of Home Ministry and is the senior most IAS officer in the state. He maintains a close contact with the Chief Minister. He is from the 1986 IAS batch and will be in service till February 19, 2021.
Anand Kumar of 1984 batch, Dr. Ajayakumar and Dr. Indrajith Singh of 1985 batch are officers senior to Vishwas Mehta. However, they are all placed in Cabinet Secretary positions under the Central Government and are not interested in returning to the state.
Vishwas Mehta was elected as three of them did not want to take up the position.
