Bennichan Thomas to head Kerala Forest Department

Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala cabinet here on Wednesday decided to appoint Bennichan Thomas as the Head of Forest Force.
At present Thomas is the Chief Wildlife Warden. In November last year, Thomas was in bad light over the Mullaperiyar tree felling issue and was suspended. However, the Suspension Review Committee recommended withdrawal of the action as it found that no trees were felled over his order as the state government cancelled it. He was reinstated and the appointment comes in the wake of slated retirement of the incumbent official in the post.
