A T Pathrose, who won assembly polls but was never sworn in, passes away

Having many rare occurrences in his life, Pathrose passed away on his 88th birthday on Saturday. He was under treatment for age related ailements in Kolencherry medical college hospital for two weeks.

The body will be brought to his residence at Mammalassery for the public to pay homage on Monday by 9 am. Last rites will be performed at Onakkoor St Mary's Orthodox Church cemetery on Monday at 11 am.

Pathrose was active in Kerala Congress and contested in assembly election in 1965. Though he won from his constituency, the President dissolved the hung assembly and he could not be sworn in as MLA. Later, he contested in assembly election in 1967 again, but could not win.

Pathrose had served as the president of Ramamangalam panchayat for many years. He had also served as Kolencherry Medical College governing body member, Pambakkuda Block Development Committee chairman, Marketing Federation director board member, Arakkunnam Rubber Marketing Society president and National Cooperative Union director.

Chengannur Mulakkuzha native late Leela was Pathrose's wife. He is survived by children Annie Alex, Alex Peter, Sobha Peter and Sunil Peter.
