YouTuber Aswanth Kok faces additional charge after police find expired driving licence

YouTuber Aswanth Kok is likely to face an additional charge in connection with a drunk-driving case in Kozhikode after police found that the driving licence he produced had expired last year.
Police are preparing to add the offence of driving without a valid licence to the existing case. They have also approached the Motor Vehicles Department for further details regarding the licence.
The case stems from an accident on September 28 in which the Thar allegedly driven by Aswanth Kok collided with several cars and two-wheelers on Kottaram Road in Kozhikode city.
The crash led local residents to stop the vehicle. Nadakkavu police arrived at the scene and took Aswanth into custody.
A medical examination at Beach General Hospital found that he had consumed alcohol. Police then registered a case for driving under the influence of alcohol and dangerous driving. He was arrested and subsequently released on station bail.
Licence produced after accident found to be expired
Aswanth had reportedly told the police immediately after the accident that he did not have his driving licence with him. He later produced a licence for verification.
The police found during the check that the licence had expired in February last year. The expired licence has now prompted the move to add a further charge to the case.
Police have sought information from the Motor Vehicles Department to verify the licence details and proceed with the additional charge.
An inspection of the Thar also led police to recover liquor bottles and an air pistol from the vehicle.
