Certificate course for local body representatives; Arya Rajendran to be first learner

Kollam: Thiruvananthapuram Mayor Arya Rajendran will be the first learner of a certificate course on decentralisation and local governance for the representatives of local self-governments.

The course is jointly conducted by Sree Narayana Guru Open University, Kerala University of Digital Science, Innovation and Technology (Digital University) and Kerala Institute of Local Administration (KILA).

The organisers said that the course was designed in a way that gives a foundation for the training programmes of KILA and grooms the local body representatives. The course will be held utilising online learning facilities.

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate the course at State Municipal House at Vazhuthacaud in Thiruvananthapuram on Tuesday at 12 pm. Minister A C Moideen will chair the event and minister K T Jaleel will deliver keynote address. KILA will telecast the event live through Facebook and YouTube from 11.30 am.
