Anto Augustine moves court seeking return of dollars seized during raid; Police say cannot be returned

Kochi: Anto Augustine has approached the District Sessions Court seeking the return of dollars seized from him during a raid. However, the police have told the court that the money cannot be returned at present.

Around $6,500 was seized from Anto Augustine during the raid. He has sought the return of the money. However, the police have submitted a report to the court raising doubts over the seized currency, including whether some of the notes could be counterfeit.

The police have also shared the related information with the Income Tax Department and the Enforcement Directorate (ED). The police are conducting their own investigation into the matter as well. Their stand is that the money can be returned only after the inspections and examinations are completed.

The court is considering the case today.
