Another snake found at Perinthalmanna govt hospital; 15th in a week
Malappuram: Yet another snake was discovered in the state-run Perinthalmanna district hospital, this time inside the door frame of the surgical ward on Friday morning.
Quick action was taken by the trauma care workers and others present, who removed the door and safely captured the snake by placing it in a bottle. The snake was successfully extracted from the door frame by pouring water.
Three baby cobras were found in a room in the old operation theatre adjacent to the surgical ward on Thursday. A total of 15 snakes have been captured from the hospital in less than a week.
To ensure the safety of patients, all individuals have been relocated from the surgical ward as of Wednesday. Measures have been taken to seal off the burrows believed to be the entry points for snakes. The surgical ward will only reopen after the necessary renovations are completed.
Meanwhile, work is underway in the mother-and-child block on the opposite side of the road. The District Medical Officer (DMO) has confirmed that this work will be finished within 15 days, following which the ward and operation theatre will be relocated to that area.
