Amid police brutality cases, Bekal Police rescue father and children from tragedy

Uduma (Kasaragod): Amid tales of brutality by the Kerala Police, a young father attempting to end his life along with his three children was saved by quick intervention from the Bekal Police the other day. The police acted after the man’s wife, who is abroad, was alerted via a video call in which he revealed his intentions.
The young man, a resident of Kudiyanmala, arrived in Bekal with his two sons and one daughter. Six months ago, the children’s mother had gone to Israel for work. During a video call, the man informed his wife that he intended to end his life. Alarmed, she immediately contacted the Kudiyanmala police. The police promptly shared the man’s phone number and family photo with the Bekal Police.
Bekal Inspector M V Sreedas provided the information—including the phone location and photos—to ASI M M Sunil Kumar of the Tourism Police, who was on duty at Bekal Beach Park.
It was around 2 pm. ASI Sunil Kumar shared the alert with his team at the park, who immediately began monitoring the shoreline. Unable to locate the family there, ASI Sunil Kumar rode his bike to the nearby Red Moon Beach, where he found the distressed man speaking angrily on the phone along with his children.
The police persuaded the man to come to Bekal station. Meanwhile, the Kudiyanmala Police were kept informed. Bekal Police then contacted the family, ensuring the man and his children returned home safely. Officers Vijesh Muttath and Rejin of Bekal Station also assisted in locating the family.
