Amazon pays back Rs70,000 to Aluva resident who got soap instead of Apple phone

Kochi: Finally, Amazon has paid back the full amount to the Aluva resident, who received a dish wash soap and a coin of Rs 5 when ordered an Apple iPhone-12 worth Rs 70,900

Aluva native Noorul Ameen has confirmed that his account was credited with the amount, which he had paid using Amason pay-card. Aluva police investigated the case and it helped Ameen to get the money back soon.

Noorul Ameen ordered the iPhone on October 12 using his credit card as EMI from Amazon's trusted seller Appario. The phone that was dispatched from Hyderabad got halted for a day in Salem. Being suspicious about this, the buyer unboxed it in front of the delivery boy. 

Noorul Ameen is a regular customer of Amazon. Usually, a product from Hyderabad will reach Kochi within two days. But it took three days this time. He had already heard the news about the fraud of keeping soap instead of iPhone in the box. So he was vigilant and decided to unbox in front of the delivery boy and shoot it too.

The box carried a Vim bar and another piece of it along with a coin of Rs 5. The items in the box had the similar weight of a phone, Noorul Ameen told Mathrubhumi.com. 

He immediately called Amazon customer care and they sent him a mail asking for the details of the purchase. He registered a complaint at the police station too.

Last month, an engineering student from Paravur received newspapers after he had ordered a laptop worth Rs 1.25 lakhs. An investigation in this regard has been progressing.
