Alcoholic man strangles bedridden mother to death in Alappuzha

Alappuzha: The body of a bedridden woman, Lalitha (60), was found with neck injuries at her home. Her son, Bineesh, has been arrested by the police in connection with the incident. Lalitha, wife of late Mohanan Achari, was found dead on Saturday evening near Mankamkuzhi Kallimel.

Bineesh, known for his regular alcohol consumption at home, was questioned by Lalitha about his drinking habits on that day. According to the Mavelikkara police, Bineesh, in a fit of rage, strangled his mother using her nightie. Bineesh has confessed to the crime.

Lalitha, who battled diabetes, had undergone amputation of one leg due to complications. She was staying with her son, and it was Bineesh who informed local residents about his mother's demise. Following post-mortem, the body will be shifted to the district hospital in Mavelikkara. Funeral rites to be conducted later.
