Alappuzha houseboat trip turns tragic for Tamil Nadu tourist group as toddler dies in mishap

Alappuzha, Kerala: A two-and-a-half-year-old child from Tamil Nadu died after accidentally falling into the water from a houseboat at Punnamada in Alappuzha on Tuesday.

The child, identified as Sugan, was part of a six-member family group that had arrived in Alappuzha from Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu, for a holiday. The incident occurred around noon at the Punnamada houseboat starting point.

Sugan reportedly fell into the water accidentally while travelling on the houseboat Red Castle Varahari. Houseboat staff and local residents immediately brought the child ashore and rushed Sugan to a nearby hospital.

Despite the efforts to save the child, Sugan died. Fire and Rescue Services personnel also reached the spot after being informed about the incident.
