Teen girl dies after accidentally consuming coconut chunk laced with rat poison in Alappuzha

Alappuzha: A 15-year-old girl tragically passed away after accidentally consuming a piece of coconut laced with rat poison. The deceased, Manikutty, was a resident of Kalleppuram in Thakazhi here and a Class Nine student at Thakazhi DBHS School. 

The family had applied poison to pieces of coconut to kill rats while the girl was at school. Upon returning, she unknowingly consumed the poisoned coconut. At the time, no one else was home. Although she received treatment initially at Vandanam Medical College and later at Kottayam Medical College, she could not be saved.

After the post-mortem, the body will be cremated. 

The police have registered a case of unnatural death, and the final rites will be held at her father’s house in Sasthamkotta here.
