Kerala University rocked by AISF-DYFI protests amid confusion over registrar’s assumption of duty

Thiruvananthapuram: Protests broke out inside and outside Kerala University on Thursday, with members of the All India Students Federation (AISF) and the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI), the youth front of the ruling CPM, staging parallel demonstrations.
AISF workers launched a protest within the university premises, while DYFI activists held a sit-in outside the campus gates.

Registrar's office sees no clarity
At around 11 a.m., University Registrar Dr K.S. Anilkumar reached the headquarters, but, according to sources, did not enter the office. Interim Vice-Chancellor Ciza Thomas had appointed Mini Kappan as acting registrar, but she has yet to formally take charge. Mini remains on campus, but there is no confirmation on whether she will assume duties today.
DYFI protest escalates, police respond
Following the detention of AISF members, DYFI intensified its protest at the university gate. As protestors attempted to breach the barricade, police deployed water cannons. Reports suggest some protestors turned violent, allegedly attacking police personnel and damaging vehicles. DYFI continues its sit-in at the university entrance.
