Agasthyarkoodam trek 2026: Key dates, costs and medical certificate requirements

Thiruvananthapuram: The Forest Department has issued detailed guidelines for the 2026 Agasthyarkoodam trekking season, which will be held from January 14 to February 11. The trekking fee has been fixed at ₹3,000 per person, comprising a trekking fee of ₹2,420 and an eco-tourism and management charge of ₹580.
As part of the eligibility criteria, only trekkers who present a valid medical fitness certificate issued by a registered medical practitioner will be permitted to participate. The certificate must be issued within seven days prior to the date of trekking, the department said.
The Forest Department has also announced a phased online booking system for Agasthyarkoodam trekking permits. Online registrations will be available on the department’s official website in two stages aligned with the trekking schedule. Bookings for trekking slots between January 14 and 31 will open in the first week of January, while registrations for trekking dates from February 1 to 11 will open in the third week of January.
The guidelines are aimed at ensuring safety, environmental protection, and better management of one of Kerala’s most popular trekking destinations. The department has urged trekkers to follow all safety norms and comply with eco-tourism regulations during the Agasthyarkoodam trek 2026 season.
