Thiruvananthapuram: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) on Saturday concluded the questioning of UDF convener and Congress MP Adoor Prakash in connection with the Sabarimala gold theft case.

After leaving the Crime Branch headquarters, Prakash said he had given “clear answers” to all questions and confirmed that investigators did not raise any issues regarding his finances. “It is for the investigation team to decide whether my replies were satisfactory. They did not ask about my financial matters,” he told reporters.

Meanwhile, Kerala Minister V Sivankutty launched a sharp attack on the Leader of the Opposition, V D Satheesan, accusing him of shielding Prakash while demanding the resignation of Devaswom Minister V N Vasavan. Sivankutty alleged that Prakash had been a key figure in the case from the beginning and questioned his reported meetings with Congress leader Sonia Gandhi in the presence of the accused.

“From the outset of the gold theft case, the name repeatedly heard is that of MP Adoor Prakash. He met Sonia Gandhi more than once in the presence of the accused, and photographs of gift exchanges have surfaced. Why did the accused visit such a high-security residence?” Sivankutty said, adding that the Opposition should also seek Prakash’s resignation as UDF convener if it continues to demand Vasavan’s exit.

Earlier, the Kerala Police confirmed that the SIT had summoned and questioned Prakash as part of the ongoing Crime Branch investigation into the alleged theft of gold linked to the Sabarimala shrine.
