Thiruvananthapuram: In a surprise move, ADGP M R Ajith Kumar has withdrawn his leave application amid serious allegations against him. It was earlier reported that he will take leave from Saturday citing personal reasons. Although the request for leave was for four days, there were indications that the leave may be extended again from September 18. But on Tuesday night, he withdrew the request for leave.

The news of Ajith Kumar's withdrawal of leave comes after the government made a major reshuffle at the helm of the police department. Malappuram district police chief S Sasidharan, who was accused by rulling MLA P V Anvar, was transferred. However, Ajith Kumar is continuing in his post despite serious allegations against him from various corners.

There were demands that Ajith Kumar should be transferred from the Law and Order department ever since the allegations were raised. A note was also prepared from the police chief's office for this. However, after a discussion between the Chief Minister and the DGP, the decision was reached not to transfer him. There is also a possibility that the report of the investigation team, headed by the police chief, will be submitted before his return.

There is also an indication that Anvar's statement may be scrutinised and a final report prepared as soon as it is received by the police chief. Ajithkumar's statement may also be recorded.

In this situation, Ajith Kumar has withdrawn the application for leave.
