Transfer of Ernakulam Principal Sessions Court Judge Honey M Varghese comes into effect

Kochi: Ernakulam Principal Sessions Court Judge Honey M Varghese, who also proposed the verdict in the actress assault case, has been transferred from the Ernakulam Principal Sessions Court to the Alappuzha District Court.

Justice Honey had earlier been on the judicial transfer list released by the High Court. However, the transfer was temporarily put on hold as the trial in the sensational Kerala actress assault case was still underway.

With the pronouncement of the verdict in the case, the transfer has now been implemented.

The actress assault case — one of Kerala’s most closely followed criminal trials — was assigned to Justice Honey after a request was made by the survivor that the matter be heard by a woman judge.
