Aadhaar information mandatory for digital survey of land

Thiruvananthapuram: Aadhaar information is mandatory for digital land surveys initiated by the revenue department of the Kerala government as it aims to create Aadhaar-based land parcel maps.

The revenue department has given permission to the Director of Survey to communicate with the union government’s Department of Electronics and Information Technology to include Aadhaar information in the survey. The officers will also collect Aadhaar number of landowners in the villages where the digital survey has already been completed.

The government had already initiated linking the land documents with Aadhaar to generate a unique Thandaper. But the land owners have shown reluctance to provide the details for this purpose. This also influenced the decision to collect Aadhaar numbers during the digital survey. This information can be shared with the unique Thandaper project.

Landowners will be able to view maps of their properties in the state by providing their Aadhaar number. This will also help to trace benami properties and identify excess land ownership. The details of family members can also be analysed using this method.

The final notification of villages where a first notification has already been released would include the Aadhaar numbers as well. Land owners are requested to verify the details once the notification is released.
