24-year-old held in snatching case in Parassala

Thiruvananthapuram: A youth was arrested in connection with a chain-snatching incident that happened at Parassala in March. 

The arrested youth is identified as Muhammed Shan (24), hailing from Kollam. His accomplice was earlier arrested in the case. 

Shan is the prime accused in the incident that happened on March 18. The accused snatched a six-soverign gold ornament worn by Liji Das, a driving school staffer in Plamoottukada. The incident happened while she was waiting to cross the road on her scooter. Liji's attempt to defend herself proved futile, as the accused successfully fled on their bike with the gold ornament.

The CCTV visuals of the incident later went viral on social media. Later, the police managed to nab Shan's accomplice, who rode the bike used by them. However, Shan absconded and was eventually apprehended on Friday night near Attingal.
