Thrissur: 20-year-old who went missing from husband’s house found dead in canal

Pavaratty: The body of a woman who went missing from her husband’s house was found in the Canoly canal. Kandassankadavu native Nijisha (20), daughter of Suresh and Rajeshwari, was identified as the deceased. She is wife of Venkitangu native Harikrishnan. 

Nijisha and Harikrishnan got married a year back. It is hinted that the duo got into a messy fight on Tuesday night. Nijisha went missing from her home at around midnight on Wednesday. Though Harikrishnan, his family and other locals searched for her in the nearby areas, she could not be found. 

Pavaratty police and fire and rescue services from Guruvayoor searched the wells and ponds in the neighbouring areas, and inspected the CCTV footage, but to no avail. The locals found Nijisha’s body in the canal adjacent to Nehru park by 10 am on Wednesday. 

Nijisha’s husband Harikrishnan is a driver. The police have registered a case of unnatural death based on Nijisha’s father’s complaint and started investigation. The inquest was completed and the body was shifted to the Medical College Hospital for post-mortem.
