Kochi: A 103-year-old patient recovered from COVID-19 and was discharged from a hospital here. Aluva Marampally native Pareed is the elderly patient who recovered from the disease and left Kalamassery Medical College the other day.

Earlier, a 105-year-old woman identified as Asma Beevi had also recovered from the pandemic at Kollam Parippally Medical College.

Pareed was subjected to COVID test on July 28 after he had severe fever and body pain. Later, he was shifted to Kalamassery Medical College after confirming COVID-19. Within 20 days of confirming the disease, he was cured.

Though he had no severe symptoms, a special medical team was assigned to treat Pareed considering his age. The staff of Kalamassery Medical College sent him off honouring with a traditional shawl and bouquet.

Though Pareed belongs to an age group, which is likely to be worst-hit by the disease, his recovery from COVID is the result of the quality of treatment and dedicated service of the health workers in Kalamassery Medical College, said Health Minister K. K. Shailaja in a post shared on Facebook.
