‘Fake LSD case’: HC quashes drug case against beauty parlour owner

Kochi: Based on the petition filed by Sheela Sunny, the High Court revoked the drug case registered by the excise department against her. In the petition, Sheela appealed that since the lab analysis proved that the substances seized from her scooter were not LSD stamps, the case against her should be dismissed. The HC agreed to this demand.
The excise team arrested Sheela in February alleging that she was in possession of and attempted to sell deadly intoxicating LSD stamps. The excise officers claimed to have confiscated 12 LSD stamps from Sheela’s scooter.
Scientific analysis of the seized items showed that they were not LSD stamps. This proved to be a turning point in this case. Sheela, who was arrested in the drug case, served 72 days in jail.
The excise circle inspector K Satheesh, who headed the investigation was suspended. The excise crime branch department is currently investigating the events that led to Sheela being trapped in the ‘fake drug case’.
