India weather today (19.12.2025): Dense fog alerts in north, mild conditions across south

New Delhi: According to the IMD’s forecast issued on the evening of 18 December, weather conditions across India on Friday, 19 December, will continue to reflect a sharp regional contrast between the north and the south.
South India weather outlook
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast generally mild winter conditions across major south Indian cities on Friday, 19 December, with fog, mist and partly cloudy skies expected in several areas. No weather warnings have been issued for the region.
Hyderabad: Clear sky conditions
Hyderabad is expected to experience a mainly clear sky throughout the day. Temperatures are likely to range between 14°C and 30°C. Humidity levels are expected to remain between 30 per cent and 55 per cent.
Amaravati: Shallow fog likely
Amaravati may witness shallow fog, particularly during the early morning hours. The temperature is forecast to vary between 18°C and 32°C, with no adverse weather warnings in place.
Bengaluru: Morning mist
Bengaluru is likely to see misty conditions, especially in the morning. The city’s temperatures are expected to range from a minimum of 16°C to a maximum of 28°C. Humidity levels may fluctuate between 35 per cent and 75 per cent.
Thiruvananthapuram: Partly cloudy skies
Thiruvananthapuram is forecast to have a partly cloudy sky. Temperatures are likely to range between 23°C and 31°C, accompanied by high humidity levels of around 75 to 80 per cent.
Chennai: Fog in the morning, clouds later
Chennai is expected to experience fog or mist during the morning hours, followed by a partly cloudy sky later in the day. Temperatures are likely to remain between 21°C and 30°C.
North India weather overview
North India continues to face intense winter conditions, with cold mornings and widespread fog affecting visibility across several states.
Dense fog and cold conditions
According to the IMD, dense to very dense fog is likely during early morning hours over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Uttar Pradesh on 19 December. Similar conditions may also affect parts of Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, Gangetic West Bengal and northeast India.
Cold day to severe cold day conditions are expected at isolated places in Uttar Pradesh, while cold day conditions are likely in parts of Uttarakhand.
Temperature trends
Cities across Punjab, Haryana and Delhi are recording minimum temperatures below 10°C, while daytime temperatures remain in the low 20s. Hill stations in Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir, including Leh and Kargil, continue to report sub-zero minimum temperatures.
Rainfall and snowfall forecast
Light rainfall or snowfall is likely over Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan and Muzaffarabad, with heavier snowfall possible at isolated locations on 21 December. Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand may also witness light rain or snow over the coming days.
Delhi NCR: Fog and air quality concerns
Delhi NCR is expected to experience dense fog on the morning of 19 December, with visibility potentially dropping to 50–200 metres in several areas. Poor air quality continues to be a major concern, particularly for the elderly, children and those with respiratory conditions.
The IMD has indicated that minimum temperatures across north India may rise gradually by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius after the next 24 hours, though foggy mornings and winter conditions are likely to persist.
