New Delhi: Zoho’s chief scientist and co-founder Sridhar Vembu expressed pride in his engineers after Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced he would be using Zoho’s homegrown software suite for documents, spreadsheets and presentations.

Responding to Vaishnaw’s post on X, Vembu said, “Thank you Sir, this is a huge morale boost for our engineers who have worked hard for over two decades to build our product suite. We will make you proud and make our nation proud. Jai Hind.”

Vaishnaw had stated that his move to Zoho was aimed at supporting the Swadeshi initiative.

The Minister’s decision aligns with Prime Minister Modi’s recent appeal urging citizens to prioritise made-in-India products during the festive season under the vision of ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’. The PM highlighted that purchasing local goods supports families, artisans, workers and creates employment opportunities for youth.

“Every time you buy a product made by our artisans, workers and industries, you are helping families earn their living and creating job opportunities for our youth,” the Prime Minister said, while also encouraging traders to promote local products.

The call for supporting indigenous products is further linked to initiatives like the “GST Bachat Utsav,” aimed at reducing household expenses, simplifying business processes, and supporting growth for farmers, women, traders, MSMEs and others.
