Srinagar: A chilling video has emerged on social media capturing the aftermath of Tuesday’s terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam, which left at least one tourist dead and several others injured. The incident took place in the Baisaran meadows area of the popular tourist town in Anantnag district.

In the now-viral video, a woman survivor recounts the harrowing events moments after the attack. “We were just having bhelpuri... and then he shot my husband. The gunman said my husband was not a Muslim and then shot him,” she says in a trembling voice. The video, whose authenticity has not been independently verified by Mathrubhumi English, offers a disturbing glimpse into the horror that unfolded.

The clip begins with the woman describing the terrifying moment, visibly shaken. The person filming is heard consoling her and a young boy nearby. The camera then pans across the field, showing what appears to be bodies lying on the ground. Another woman is seen pleading for help, desperately asking for medical assistance for an injured family member.

Earlier, police confirmed that terrorists had opened fire on a group of tourists in the area. “My husband was shot in the head while seven others were also injured,” the woman survivor had told PTI over phone shortly after the incident.

Security forces were immediately rushed to the area after gunshots were reported. A senior police officer said an investigation is underway, and search operations are ongoing to track down the attackers.

Former Chief Minister and PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti condemned the incident, calling it a “cowardly” attack. “Kashmir has always welcomed tourists with warmth. This rare and tragic incident is deeply concerning and calls for a thorough investigation,” she said in a post on X.

As of the time of this report, one fatality has been officially confirmed. However, multiple casualties are feared, and further updates from authorities are awaited.
