A light-hearted and culturally rooted moment during Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay’s visit to Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (MDMK) founder Vaiko in Chennai has gone viral on social media, with a simple “drishti” exchange stealing attention from the political meeting itself.

The visit took place shortly after Vijay assumed office following the formation of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam government in the state.

As Vijay arrived at Vaiko’s residence in Aram Nagar, he was warmly welcomed by staff members, including several women working as house help. In videos widely circulating on X, they are seen visibly excited, smiling and gathering around the Chief Minister for photographs.

The moment that has now gone viral began when one of the house help staff performed a traditional “drishti” gesture, a cultural practice used to ward off the evil eye, toward Vijay.

Instead of simply acknowledging it, Vijay is seen smiling and immediately mirroring the same “drishti” gesture back, in a spontaneous and respectful response. He also greeted everyone with folded hands, adding to the warmth of the interaction.
