Uttarakhand avalanche: 4 confirmed dead, 50 workers rescued from site

Uttarakhand: A total of 50 workers have been rescued from the site of the avalanche in Mana, however, four among the rescued have been reported dead. The avalanche struck the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) camp located between Mana and Badrinath, between 5:30 am and 6 am, burying workers inside eight containers and a shed.
The Indian Army quickly responded to the emergency, rescuing several workers from the debris. By Saturday, rescuers had pulled out 14 more laborers from the snow, as search operations resumed at the avalanche site.
As of Saturday, 47 out of the 55 workers trapped under the avalanche have been rescued, with 33 rescued by Friday night. However, eight workers remain trapped under the snow.
Rain and snowfall had hampered rescue efforts on Friday, causing the operation to be suspended after nightfall. With the weather clearing on Saturday, helicopters joined the rescue operation.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami conducted an aerial survey of the affected area and directed officials to accelerate the rescue efforts. Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to Dhami and assured him of full support.
District Disaster Management Officer N K Joshi stated that the Army and Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) personnel, based in Mana, resumed the rescue operation early Saturday morning.
