TVK postpones Vijay’s rallies for two weeks following Karur stampede

Chennai: Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) has announced the temporary suspension of party chief and actor Vijay’s public events for the next two weeks, following the tragic stampede at his rally in Karur that claimed 41 lives and left over 60 injured.
Vijay had recently launched a “meet the people” campaign, visiting districts including Tiruchirappalli, Namakkal, and Karur as part of a series of Saturday outreach programmes. The fatal incident occurred on September 27 during his event in Karur, leading to widespread shock and mourning.
In a statement shared on social media, the party expressed deep sorrow over the incident: “We are in anguish and regret over the loss of 41 of our brethren.”
“In this situation, our leader's (Vijay) next two weeks' meet the people programmes are being temporarily postponed. The revised details of these would be announced later,” the statement added.
