Mamata Banerjee submits Trinamool national committee list to Election Commission amid party row

Kolkata: The battle over control of the Trinamool Congress has intensified, with the Mamata Banerjee-led faction submitting a fresh National Working Committee list to the Election Commission, even as the rival camp led by Ritabrata Banerjee announced its own committee.
According to sources, the new list was sent to the Election Commission on Monday and bears the signature of Trinamool supremo Mamata Banerjee. The committee places Banerjee at the top as Chairperson, reaffirming her leadership of the party. Watch the documents submitted below:
Senior leader Subrata Bakshi has been named Vice-President, while Abhishek Banerjee has been appointed All India General Secretary and continues as the party’s leader in the Lok Sabha.
The newly submitted National Working Committee consists of 24 members. Its submission comes at a time when a parallel organisational exercise is being carried out by the faction led by Ritabrata Banerjee, which has claimed to represent the ‘real Trinamool Congress’.
Earlier, the rival camp announced a separate National Working Committee and replaced Mamata Banerjee as Chairperson with Howrah leader Arup Roy.
The move triggered fresh controversy within the party and raised questions over the legitimacy of competing organisational structures being projected by the two camps.
Political observers noted that while Ritabrata Banerjee’s faction was engaged in finalising its committee from a hotel in New Town on Monday, the Mamata Banerjee camp simultaneously submitted its own revised committee list to the Election Commission, signalling a direct challenge to the rival group’s claims.
The latest list also reflects significant organisational changes. Arup Biswas, who was included in the National Working Committee announced on June 5, has been dropped from the revised committee dated June 22.
Several other names have reportedly been removed as part of the restructuring exercise. The development has set the stage for a potential legal and political confrontation.
With two rival committees now claiming legitimacy, attention is expected to shift to the Election Commission, which may be called upon to determine the officially recognised leadership structure of the party.
