In a move aimed at enhancing passenger convenience and simplifying the travel experience, Indian Railways has launched a new all-in-one application named RailOne, which brings together a wide range of railway-related services into a single, user-friendly platform. The app is available for download on both Android and iOS devices.

A unified experience for rail travellers

Developed by the Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS), RailOne has been designed to replace the need for multiple apps previously used by passengers. The new superapp integrates ticket booking (reserved, unreserved, and platform tickets), PNR status updates, coach position tracking, Rail Madad grievance redressal, food ordering, and more.

The app also introduces a single sign-on system, allowing users to log in using their existing credentials from Rail Connect or UTSonMobile, effectively eliminating the need for multiple logins and passwords. Guest access is also available via mobile number and OTP for basic enquiries.

Sleek interface and smarter navigation

With a minimalist and clutter-free interface, RailOne focuses on enhancing user experience while reducing the burden on phone storage. It offers real-time train tracking, a coach locator tool, and a redesigned ‘My Bookings’ section that provides an overview of both reserved and unreserved ticket history. Filters allow users to organise tickets by duration or transaction type.

The app also includes a You section, where users can manage their profile, enable biometric login, add funds to their R-Wallet (the Indian Railways digital wallet), and edit account information. New users benefit from a simplified registration process requiring minimal personal data.

Key features of RailOne

  • Book all types of tickets: reserved, unreserved, and platform tickets
  • Search trains and plan journeys
  • Real-time train status and coach position updates
  • Order food from partner vendors during travel
  • Lodge complaints and feedback through Rail Madad
  • Enquire about freight services
  • Use R-Wallet for secure, seamless payments
  • Access services with numeric mPIN or biometric login
  • Enquire without registration using guest login
  • Multilingual support for better accessibility

Backed by CRIS innovation

CRIS, the IT arm of Indian Railways, is known for powering core systems such as the Reserved Ticketing System, Unreserved Ticketing System, Train Enquiry portals, and the Rail Madad platform. With RailOne, CRIS further strengthens its role in modernising India’s railway infrastructure.

The app also accommodates refund requests for missed or cancelled journeys, improving post-travel service delivery. By consolidating these functions, Indian Railways aims to make the travel process more seamless and efficient.

Changes to reservation rules coming soon

In tandem with the app launch, Indian Railways is introducing major changes to its ticketing systems from July 1, 2025:

  • Tatkal bookings: Only verified users will be allowed to book Tatkal tickets. Verification will be completed via Aadhaar or DigiLocker documents, with OTP authentication to be implemented by the end of July.
  • Chart preparation timings: The final reservation chart will now be prepared eight hours before the train's departure, double the current four-hour window. For morning departures (before 2 PM), charts will be finalised by 9 PM the previous day, giving waitlisted passengers earlier clarity on ticket status.

With RailOne, Indian Railways hopes to reduce reliance on third-party travel apps and offer a more integrated digital travel experience for its millions of users.
